Friends are like stars, you don’t always see them but you know they’re always there.

“Find some friends!” I always say to Ahmed, but he is
Life is better with family and friends. In the UK, we invested in family and friends. Every weekend Ahmed would play football with his friends and I would meet with my friends. Or, we will load up the car and visit Ahmed’s brother and his family. We are still trying to develop those networks.
It had been a while since we saw our new friends James and Tess. When we first met them, we laughed about how awkward Ahmed found it to keep in contact with his friends and true to his nature, Ahmed had not been in touch with James for a while. I had asked him if he’d heard from James to prompt him to text (and he intended to) but Ahmed is Ahmed… lol!
On the other hand, I had been in contact with my soul sister and we were trying to arrange to meet up but our schedules just weren’t allowing it to happen! However, this weekend, the planets aligned! We arranged to meet up at Black Mountain Peninsula for some fun in the sun.
As my daughter and her boyfriend played Kubb in the park, Ahmed and J boy went on the big slip and slide – video on our family YouTube Channel.

Kubb! We played a Swedish grass game called Kubb, which became super competitive, James and Tess’s family on one side and us on the other. My daughter and her boyfriend were winning, so Ahmed joined James, then they caught up and pulled ahead. Ahmed then switched teams again when it became imbalanced and in the end, James’s team took the tournament 2 – 1.

Eating, family, friends, swimming and games; That was a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

The Jallohs
Hi Ruth,
Stevie here from a locked down UK! You all look like you’re having the time of your lives, I so pleased it has worked out so well for you!
I am working form home and lucky I have yet to be furloughed, these are strange and unsettling times here, everyone is struggling to some degree with their mental well being and SJA is having many challenges, especially financial ones! We shall come back at the end of this dark tunnel, a very different organisation, my retirement beckons very loudly some days!
God bless you all, stay safe and well all!
Love and hugs, Stevie
